Introduction

Welcome to the second installment of the CPU and Video Card Price Guide for July 2001. We publish this article to help you the consumer, find the best deals on the 'net. All the tedious work like finding the best prices and locating reputable retailers has already been done so all you have to do is figure out what product is right for you. As always we encourage the reader to investigate every retailer's reliability before ordering, but we have tried to eliminate typically problematic ones from our price guides.

This Week

Intel again has another slow week. The Pentium 4 and Pentium III show very little change in price. However the Celeron line continues to play catch-up with the AMD Duron in terms of price.

AMD prices, on the other hand, continue to fall in price just as in previous weeks. We see price reductions all across the charts and a few more gigahertz processors enter the sub-$100 price range!

Video card prices also remain relatively quiet this week. We do see some much needed price drops in the high-end NVIDIA segment. Also, we add the Matrox G450eTV Marvel to our video card lineup.
