I am probably a little shallow... But what stops me from owning a Meizu, Xioming, Huawei etc' is those brand names... They don't exactly roll off the tongue or sound premium.
What stops me is their hacked apart versions of Android that will never get updated, and send user data to China. After Oneplus and Nokia were busted for it I'm done looking at any of these Chinese devices, regardless of how cool or cheap they are.
They do get updates and you’re lying. The best part is they come with less bloat wares than any other brand, except for Google Nexus.
American companies such as Apple, Google, Facebook never steal or sell user data or have been caught doing so. Oh, I’m just fooling myself here.
They’re not cool or cheap (you sound like a hippie). They’re just priced appropriately, unlike iPhone which costs much less to make than their retail price. Google it! => how much iPhone cost to manufacture.
This is a real premium phone with appropriate pricing. Idiots should stick with overpriced junk. Stop twisting the truth.
It's 2019, yet people are still parroting the "Chinese phones don't get updates" like it's 2011. Xiaomi phones, for instance, typically get 3 years of updates (mid and high end devices), which is already beyond what the likes of Samsung and Google provide
I expect my smartphone to be sending information to: Google, the manufacturer of the phone, the developer of any apps which have the honour to be allowed to run in the background, God, The Devil, Margaret Thatcher's Ghost, GCHQ, NSA, CIA and of course my cleaner's auntie's second cousin. I therefore take advantage of this and feed it misinformation as much as possible purely to laugh at the adverts I get fed. Farcebook thinks I'm a doctor. I tried to make Google think I was attended a transvestite Nazi training camp in The Yorkshire Dales, England. If your phone is made by a Chinese company then that company is monetising your information just like Google is and they have the same rights to do so. If the West can do it, so can the East. It's not good for one and bad for the other. How do you think their phones are so cheap? It's not all legacy costs and so on, it's that they're selling your data to anyone who will buy it.
So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to listen to a wonderful country song called "there's no cock like horse cock" on repeat in the hope that Amazon will start offering me 25" dildos. I don't live in hope. I'm still waiting for them to offer me copies of Mein Kampf after playing Hitler speeches on repeat at Alexa.
Check out Oneplus. They look like an US company, but they are Chinese. They never have Chinese letter on anywhere, or sound like Chinese. So they are more successful in US.
They have Bluetooth 5.0 which is fantastic for wireless audio. That dongle though is something special. If they have wireless charging then having a USB-C dongle especially one with such a high quality DAC is perfectly fine. Even without wireless charging I wouldn’t mind switching between Bluetooth and wired on my headphones to allow the phone to charge. I wonder if that USB-C headphone dongle is class compliant and able to work with 3rd party devices?
Reason: * people don't trust you as relatively unknown brand to deliver regular updates, but they trust the AndroidOne program * people in EU/US tend to not like all the customization * you have good, reliable software without any non-local/non-translated (read: Chinese) left-overs with little effort * if you want to add some custom sauce, do what Motorola does - have an app for that.
If it ships with Android 9 (dare I dream?), then it should be fairly easy to use generic system images with Project Treble support to replace the version of Android that ships with it.
If it ships with Android 8, Project Treble support will be there, although it's not as advanced as 9 support. Should still be doable to use GSIs to replace the OS.
Not sure if it requires an unlocked bootloader, though. I don't have any devices that support Project Treble. :(

Because they sound Chinese. And somehow you end up with Chinese letters, like the images in this post's content.xmRipper - Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - link

This looks like the best way of solving the front camera issue, two very small top and bottom bezels.heffeque - Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - link
How is Meizu with Android updates? (minor & mayor)Awful - Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - link
So much better than a whole-punch or notch. Looks like there should be no issue fitting two along the top for dual cameras either.Xex360 - Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - link

I'd really like to see this compared to a Mi 9. Both seem to have everything I'm looking for in a new phone.jospoortvliet - Thursday, April 25, 2019 - link
Now put AndroidOne on it and you'll outsell Huawei in Europe and the USA within a year.jospoortvliet - Thursday, April 25, 2019 - link
